My Teaching Style
I value working with colleagues in a true teaming situation where the team develops curricular projects and devotes time to the study of student learning. My classes are project-oriented which means students must be very productive both individually and in team situations. I have a great time teaching middle school and enjoy students who challenge me by being original and creative thinkers. When you visit a class I’m with, you usually won't find students sitting quietly in rows (unless of course I'm reading!). Real education is active, engaging work that requires all of us to question, respond, and learn from our mistakes as well as our successes. I am a firm believer that every student should have the curriculum personalized for their particular needs, talents, and experiences and strive to have all students become motivated learners, teachers, and citizens in our diverse cultures and environments.

What teachers say about working with Keith and his projects...

  • Keith had a wonderful attitude towards what kids would be able to complete in the time frame. He really encouraged students to drive the project. This really helped students be creative.
  • Thank you to Mr. Mack, whose kid- friendly attitude was a huge reason this experience was such a success.
  • This project was very educational and incredible. My students got the research experience to prepare them for other projects and the step process was easy to follow and well paced. Keith Mack was a pleasure to work with.
  • Differentiated instruction was the key to this project. All children didn't need to participate in every part. The children were all challenged. Keith is fantastic.
  • I was forced to advance my technological skills to another level. Keith made it easy to do that and was always available to correct something we had done wrong and kindly offer suggestions for improvement.
  • Keith affirmed the idea that I don't have to know exactly how things are going to go before I dive into a new project. Empowering to have the students see me learning about the topic and project right along side them.
  • Thanks for developing such an outstanding project. My class suddenly discovered research can be a kick. I was really happy to see my students so pumped about finding out more about Washington state.
  • Just a quick note to thank you for the opportunity to work with you and learn from you. We, staff and students both, learned so much in such a short time that it is hard to digest.
  • The kids were so motivated by both the challenges and the research! They worked with a partner and really dug into the material. Our goal was for students to use research skills. This group of kids went above and beyond what we expected because of motivation.
  • Thank you so much for the coordination and communication. You are having a tremendous impact on education of kids. Keep up the good work!
