Keith’s eFolio
My eFolio will provide you some information and links to projects that I have created. The projects are all focused on education and many were developed with the idea that teachers and their students can learn side by side.
My First Photo Project
For this 2004 project we take a classroom picture and then each student crops his/her image from the photo and saves it as a separate JPG file. The photo is gradually changed using Fireworks tools for use in a introductory PowerPoint project that includes both video and audio clips. I created a simple Flash Tutorial to help students remember important graphics skills they learned in creating their projects.
Faces of the Fair
I created this project in September 2002 with a grant from AT&T Broadband. Every day students and teachers with little or no technology experience came to the fair and then used camcorders and digital cameras to chronicle their experiences. You can see some of their projects by visiting The Daily.
TLS Summer Experience
The Learning Space has a summer workshop for teachers. Every year 50-100 teachers attend this three day event. My friend Joe Dockery and I created all the course materials and instruct the video strand and breakout sessions. I also designed and created content for the Summer Experience course website including discussion boards, blogs, and online file sharing area.
The Classroom in Action
In June 2003 I created a Classroom In Action project for NECC’s new student world. In this project teachers and their students came to our classroom area and used digital tools to make a very brief eFolio. All students were able to make an introductory video, and use a digital camera or scanner to capture some classroom materials that they brought with them to the event.
Where in the USA? and Where in Washington?
Teachers involved in The Learning Space created the design for this award winning videoconferencing project. I provided web design and development of additional support documents and use of student artifacts. Through moderating this project I gained experience with interactive multipoint videoconferencing including troubleshooting gateways, point to point, and IP (H.323) units.
Moon or Mars?
My friend Carolyn Hinshaw and I created this project for Exploring the Future of Learning a Thinkquest Live Event in July 2002. The goal was to have attendees experience the classroom of the past complete with old fashioned desks, chalkboards, and the “dunce chair”. After a taste of the past we created the “Moon or Mars” project to share what could be done in today’s classroom with multimedia, videoconferencing, and other digital tools. The project was invited to NECC 2003 for an encore performance.
MiddleWeb Online Community “Walking the Talk” Conference
The MiddleWeb has generated an amazing group of middle grades educators. This online community decided to meet face-to-face for the first time and this website was developed to help organize the event. I also created discussion board and file share tools for this group.
